Mysore Practice: One on One with Maty Ezraty

This workshop will emphasize individual one-on-one instruction in the Ashtanga Method. Ashtanga Yoga is a classical method employing a gradual and systematic approach to learning and challenging yourself. The Mysore room is engaging and dynamic and allows you to move at your own pace with teacher supervision. Maty Ezraty is known for her unique approach to Mysore classes that combines her decades of study in both the Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions. Attentive to the correct alignment of every pose, she works to help each student find their way with the practice. She uses props when needed to facilitate greater understanding and is skilled in helping practitioners with common injuries. It is recommended that students attending are familiar with the Ashtanga series (It does not matter where you are in the series!). Practice will be limited to 25 students to assure individual attention.

Adjustments, Alignment & Anatomy with Leigha Nicole (Day 2)

This 2 day workshop will explore the fine art of hands-on adjusting and specific techniques for working safely and intelligently with students practicing yoga poses in a class or one-on-one setting. Technical inquiry will include working with and adjusting different body types, principles of anatomy, and reviewing alignment and energy movement in the asanas.

Ashtanga Yoga taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is a deeply transformative system of yoga.  Different sequences of postures (asana) are linked together with the fluid movements of the sun salutations (surya namaskar). These are practiced with a meditative rhythmic breath technique (ujjayi pranayama) along with the cultivation of deep core strength (bandhas).
